繼上一篇簡單的講述了The College Dropout和Graduation之後, 這次我要來較為深入一點點的談談這張讓音樂界改變的808s & Heartbreak 

通常一聽到808s的人都覺得很奇怪, 到底808s是代表著什麼意思? 808s跟Heartbreak有甚麼樣的關連? 好的, 其實關聯性並不大, 808s主要說的是, 這張專輯裡面, 個首歌曲在編曲時所應用的鼓組: 808鼓組  

先來簡單的介紹一下808鼓組有什麼特別之處

as you can see, 這台正是由Roland公司出產的TR-808 Drum Machine, 其實在當時已經有其他的鼓機出現, 並且被應用在音樂製作上面, 只不過808在當時算是一項新的突破, 音樂人本可以在808上面自由的調整Drum Kick(大鼓)和Snare(小鼓)的編排位置, 這對音樂人來說是很大的一項福音(各位可以看到鼓機的下排, 有一長串的按鍵, 下面還標示著123456...數字, 那就是拍子, 808可以讓人們隨心所欲的把大小鼓安插在不同的正反拍上面)

然而當時的808鼓機在聲音的表現方面, Roland公司自己並不是很滿意, 認為這是一個失敗的作品, 至於垃圾為何在日後變黃金, 這段故事大家可以自己去diggin' 

但至少808的獨特聲音, 尤其是它的deep bass kick和便宜的價格, 使它可以在街頭中廣泛的流傳, 並且在日後衝擊了Hip-Hop和Dance舞曲圈。

時間倒帶回到2008年的時候，在那年Kanye失去了他摯愛的母親Donda West，同一時間和他愛情長跑多年的未婚妻Alexis Phifer也離開了他，這時候的Kanye人生面臨了最低潮，在萬念俱灰之下，Kanye又要去面對新頭銜給他帶來的各種壓力和聲浪(He's a "Pop Star" now)，在喪失摯親之痛和失去了長期陪伴在身邊的未婚妻之下，席捲而來的孤獨和悲傷促使了這張偉大的專輯的產生。

（這張專輯是個治癒的療程，對極致的孤寂）（這是張治癒性的專輯，一張極致孤獨的專輯）看各位要怎樣翻譯都行

至於這張專輯為何偉大？很簡單，因為Kanye原本就被定義為一個饒舌歌手，而非一個Pop Star流行歌手，更何況他的聲音根本就完全不能唱歌，但在他的堅持巧思之下，整張專輯都運用了Auto-Tune去修飾了他的聲音，並且在這張專輯的編曲應用上面，除了使用了808鼓組之外，其餘的音色應用則是直接使用Virtual Synthesis，意思就是直接使用電腦編曲，而不是使用真正的樂器去進行錄製演奏，從這邊就可以看出來Kanye的創造功力有多深厚。 

一般聽眾可能多半不太瞭解，甚至是聽不出來一首歌曲的建制過程，並且聽不太出來箇中的曼妙之處和細節，一首曲子在單用電腦編曲結束後，就直接進行輸出的狀況下，要使曲子達成最真實的狀態，在後製的時候，對每軌音源所掛載的效果器應用就要非常的精準，像是EQ那些的調整之類的，藉此達成較為接近真實樂器和空間的效果。

不囉唆，讓我們來看看Kanye整張專輯的表現。

專輯中的第一首歌 Say you will

整首歌當中，不斷的持續對前女友抱持著一定程度的幻想，希望她會留下來。

“Mrs.So Fly crash lands in my room, Can't waste no time she might leave soon. ”

希望各位不要也像他一樣，到了最後才在懊悔。

這首歌的故事起源是這樣的，Kanye West有天在和MTV的副總裁Dave Sirulnick聊天的時候，拿了自己的老婆和小孩的照片給了Kanye看，這讓Kanye頓時傻眼，因為Kanye一直想要和Sirulnick一樣有個美滿的家庭，而且是真的想要結婚。

Amazing這首歌也算是很多人熟悉的歌曲，如果你是NBA忠實的收看者的話，這首歌被應用在2009年的NBA季後賽上面。

Amazing也在第52屆葛來美獎的最佳嘻哈演唱組合此一項目上面被提名。整首歌的歌詞主要是在鼓勵自己，曲目的應用上面，鼓組的選擇使用了非洲的Conga鼓和搭配了人聲的喊叫，鋼琴方面則是運用了較為陰沈的和弦組合，營造出了一種處在原始大地上面的陰鬱感覺。再搭配上歌詞之後，整首作品便有一種必須在生活中掙扎，並且必須使盡一切方法撐過去的感覺。

Kanye這首歌很明顯就是在唱自己對未婚妻的感覺，不斷地告訴自己是時候該放下離開了。而Love Lockdown這支MV在2009年的MTV音樂影像大獎上，被提名了許多的項目，包括：Video of the Year, Best Male Video, Best Hip-Hop Video, and Best Special Effects in a Video。但最終沒有任何一個項目得獎。

接下來的歌曲我就不再對歌詞方面多做翻譯的功夫，一是因為我真的不是很會翻，二是因為，整張專輯的歌詞內容幾乎都是在抱怨他的前女友，同時專輯裡最知名的曲目幾乎都在前面就介紹完了。 階下來是針對一些小細節的介紹。

而Robocop這首歌，則是運用一種借代法，去形容前未婚妻就像電影“機器戰警”裡面的Robocop一樣，沒有溫度，像具冰冷的機器。同時也說明了Kanye到了這個階段已經不再對前女友有所任何留戀。

再來，剩下的歌曲也就不多作介紹，只稍微簡單介紹“Coldest Winter”

這首歌主要是在講述，Kanye失去了母親之後的感覺。我相信無論是誰都是一樣的，從小養育自己的母親突然逝去，熟悉的一切不在的感覺，人生彷彿像是進入了最嚴寒的冬天一樣低落。

Coldest Winter的曲，主要是Sample了Tears For Fears的Memories Faded的這首歌來作為主要架構，同時也展現了被取樣歌曲的核心精神：一切的回憶終將褪去。也呼應了Coldest Winter這一標題。

來看看Coldest Winter的歌詞：

Kanye West這張專輯，在當年推出的時候，造成了許多媒體撰文作家的批評，認為這張作品會使所有的樂迷失望，並且像是New York Times就很不留情面地認為，這張專輯會被世人給記得傳唱的原因，可能是因為Kanye West根本不能唱歌的緣故，而對他的Auto-tune印象深刻。

儘管各大媒體都有不斷的大小砲火攻擊，但Kanye的專輯銷量並沒有減少，反而還使這張專輯背後世敬仰，因為808s & heartbreak的製作和曲風，早就已經超越了當代所有的藝術家，運用了前所未見的方式去製作出這張專輯，因為在當時的主流圈子裡面，從來沒有出現過這種類型的曲風。所以說，Kanye West真的是個實實在在的Gamn Changer。

台灣饒舌團體“參劈”在“跟我走”這首歌裡面這樣唱道：

想要捕捉我的倩影 我已瞬間不見

用來形容當時的Kanye West可以說是最適合不過了。而這張專輯，也影響了日後許多歌手的創作，像是Drake和The Weekend等人。
